Alabama rises to the occasion despite recent strong performance

2 min read

The Alabama Crimson Tide suffered perhaps its most expensive win of the season in Week Two. Jalen Milroe struggled and Nick Saban’s team lost to Texas by a score of 34-24. Even though it’s now Week 12, the Longhorns are still one spot ahead of No. 8 Alabama in the College Football Playoff rankings.

The head-to-head loss was very costly, as Alabama is playing much better than Texas right now. In Week 11, Alabama beat Kentucky 49-21 while Texas struggled for the second straight week. The Longhorns were good enough to beat TCU 29-26.

Alabama rises to the occasion despite recent strong performance

Bama fans are starting to get frustrated with the committee’s stubbornness in ranking the Red Wave behind the Longhorns, while Texas has had even worse losses and hasn’t played well in nearly a month.

It’s a tough argument to win because Texas won the Tuscaloosa game, but the best reason is that Jalen Mirro is a different player and Alabama is a different team. In that game, Mirro ran for 255 yards on 14/27 with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He only ran for 44 yards. He is now completing 65.2 percent of his passes and advancing an average of 10.5 yards per pass. The good news for Alabama is that the path forward is clear. After winning the SEC West last week, they will finish the year with a game against Georgia. This game is essentially a win and you’re in. Even if Texas wins and captures the Big 12 title, a win over Georgia would be the most impressive thing on any team’s resume.

Georgia made strides this week after convincingly beating Ole Miss, and the Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 1 over Ohio State.

Alabama’s recent performances, especially the win over Kentucky, have been impressive. Milo has stepped up and played at a high level. If Alabama can continue to play at this level and beat Georgia, they should be in position to make the College Football Playoff.

Can Alabama overcome the early struggles?

Alabama has faced some challenges this season, but they have responded well in recent weeks. Milo’s development at the quarterback position has been a major factor in Alabama’s turnaround.

While the road ahead for the Red Tide remains daunting, they certainly have hopes of making the College Football Playoff. If they can continue to play at the level they have shown in recent weeks, they will be a dangerous team in the playoff.

What’s next for Alabama?

Alabama will play LSU this weekend and then Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Both games will be important tests for the Red Tide as they look to make a strong push for the College Football Playoff.

Alabama’s future is bright and they have the talent and coaching to go far in the playoff. If they can continue to play at a high level, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
