While Mark Stone is enjoying his offseason and relishing his time with the Stanley Cup, the Vegas Golden Knights’ captain is already eagerly looking forward to the team’s quest for a repeat championship.

“It’s been a short but great summer,” Stone shared with NHL.com’s Darrin Bauming and Amalie Benjamin. “I’d do anything to do this all over again next year, but I’m excited to get back again.”

Having recently had his time with the coveted Cup, Stone took it to a children’s hospital in his hometown of Winnipeg to share the joy with his family. Despite the victory in mid-June and the upcoming training camp scheduled for mid-September, the 31-year-old forward is eager to get back to the action and start preparing for the new season.

“We are getting the itch to get back in the gym, getting the itch to get back on the ice,” Stone expressed. “Sometimes you think you need the time off, and then you get a month in, and you’re ready to get back. I’m ready to get back.”

Stone’s journey to the championship was not without challenges. He underwent his second back surgery within a nine-month period on January 31, following an injury less than three weeks earlier. However, he made a triumphant return for the playoffs, contributing significantly with 11 goals and 13 assists in 22 games to help Vegas secure the championship victory against the Florida Panthers.

Due to injuries, Stone has been limited to just 80 regular-season games combined over the last two campaigns. Nevertheless, he remains a two-way dynamo on the ice and has been an integral part of the Vegas Golden Knights since they acquired him in a trade with the Ottawa Senators in February 2019, where he spent part of seven campaigns to begin his career.
